Integrated, Intelligent Management of Process Safety, Health, Environment and Quality in the IMS/CHEM Framework

The decision support for Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) management is as a formidable task as the decision support for process operations. Despite the amount of work done in each field and initial integration studies from some organizations, it still remains challenging for industrial designers to build comprehensive, integrated SHE management system for real plants. Despite of a few individual successes, such experiences are not easy to be generalized into other applications. The WP8 of IMS/CHEM project supplies five integrated toolboxes for the decision support in the integrated, intelligent management of process safety, health, environment and quality. The design of the integration framework has been achieved by analyzing and adopting best available practices out of all three participating regions of EU, Japan and Korea. The information system structure of the proposed solution is presented and main system components and modules are described.
