The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of strain, strain rate and deformation temperature on the microstructure evolution and subsequent amount of retained austenite in the TRIP-aided steel. Particularly, the effects of the deformation in the austenite-ferrite two-phase region are discussed in relation to the mechanical response of the material. It is shown that deformation in the two-phase region has a significant effect on the structure morphology and mechanical properties. Quasistatic compression tests under different temperature and strain rate conditions are used for the study of the problem. The strain hardening at room temperature was determined using hardness measurements. The results have shown that, by applying deformation in the two-phase (γ+α) region, it is possible to control the volume fraction of structure components and stabilizing of retained austenite in the multi phase TRIP-aided steel.
