EXPERT SYSTEMS FOR CONDITION AND MAINTENANCE ASSESSMENT OF HV EQUIPMENT FROM TRANSELECTRICA'S SUBSTATIONS

The authors present the strategy for condition assessment, life management and maintenance of the high voltage electric equipment owned and operated by the Romanian Power Grid Company - CN Transelectrica SA- by using TRANSPOWER expert system. This is a modular expert system software program, each module being dedicated to HV power transformers and shunt reactors, current transformers, voltage transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, and arresters, respectively. Also, there are presenting the principles that the TRANSPOWER expert system is based on, the steps in the assessment of the above mentioned substation equipment (as well as their main components), the advantages of a permanent and unique database realized by using TRANPOWER, for controlling the equipment reliability, scheduling the maintenance works, monitoring the maintenance costs, etc. The examples given in the paper mean the result of the experience gained by CN Transelectrica in practice by applying the TRANSPOWER expert system.
