The paper discusses the recyclability of waste silk cord to the reinforcement of the biodegradable composites. The emulsion-type PLA resin was used for the matrix material. The measured bending strength and bending modulus of molded composites were much higher than those of the matrix material, and they increase with increasing silk fiber content. Especially, fairly large Izod impact value can be obtained for the molded composites. It is concluded that the molding system devised herein shows promise for contributing to the material recycling of waste cord of silk fibers.
