In this study, particles present as inclusions in wire breaks resulting from copper wiredrawing are analyzed by means of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Morphology and chemical composition are examined to identify materials present in the continuous casting process for rod and wiredrawing operations. Corrective and preventive actions are implemented in the casting and rod breakdown processes to achieve high processibility indexes, robust copper rod, and outstanding ton/brake indexes.
