Polyurethane binder was used for the preparation of coloured Thickness Insensitive Spectrally Selective (TISS) paints for solar facade collectors. Low emittance was obtained by the addition of aluminium flakes, high solar absorptance by addition of spinel black pigment. Blue and green paints were prepared from coloured aluminium flakes, while iron oxide pigment and bare aluminium flakes were used for the production of red paints. Efficiency of photothermal conversion of solar radiation was assessed on the basis of solar absorptance, thermal emittance, performance criteria and metric chroma values.
