Review of Designs of Screen Filters Applied in Micro-irrigation System

摘要

This paper aims at improving the design of screen filter such as in decreasing the water pressure loss, increasing effective filtration area, making the solid particles discharged easily and so on to obtain better performance. Micro-irrigation is now one of the most important technologies to promote water use efficiency and to realize sustainable development in agriculture. Screen filter is often applied in micro-irrigation system to remove the solid particles so that the emitters will be protected from clogging. Many kinds of screen filters have been designed and produced, but there are still some aspects that need to be improved. In this paper, the important factors in design are discussed, which are decisive elements in determining performance of screen filters; some kinds of the typical screen filters being widely used are introduced, and their advantages and disadvantages are summarized as well. Based on the analyses and discussions, some suggestions are provided for further progress in design on material, structure, measure etc. All rights reserved.
