Absorption and emission spectra of Yb~(3+) in yttria-stabilized cubic zirconia were studied. Selective emission spectra of Yb~(3+) in crystal ZrO_2-O,3% Yb_2O_3 12% Y_2O_3 at wavelength scanning the exciting light in the absorption band range were registered. Emission spectra of Yb~(3+) with 3 ms and 5 μs time-delay relation to excited pulse were also obtained for the crystal. The results of the carried out experiments are discussed within assumption frame of existing three basis types of optical centers.
