China's financial system has undergone significant reform since 1978, but it still exhibits the legacy of a centrally planned economy in which the government continues to play an instrumental role in credit allocation and pricing of capital. This article aims to anatomize the source of the problems from the angle of financial efficiency by analyzing the problems of the financial system in China.
