Removal and treatment equipment for VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) exhausted from coating and printing plants was developed by diffusion scrubber method. The equipment consisted of parallel plate type of diffusion scrubber with activated carbon fiber sheet. It could remove VOCs by flowing in polluted air into the narrow space between two parallel ACF sheet. The exhaust gas from the coating plant was introduced into the large-scale diffusion scrubber at the air volume of 4800m~3/h. As results of evaluation experiments, it was found that the removal equipment could remove total VOCs at about 60 percent of removal efficiency. The reuse of ACF sheet in the diffusion scrubber is required by heat desorption of VOCs. Because the used ACF is dumped as the industrial waste and the operating cost of ACF sheet is expencive. As results of the recovery experiment by heat desorption, it was found that 60 percent of the absorbed VOCs were desorbed from ACF in the diffusion scrubber.
