摘要

During 2000/1 numbers of off-peak passenger using a Quality Bus route in Dublin were in decline. Apart from a reduction in revenue the travelling public were clearly being inhibited from travelling. The incidence and cost of vandalism reached high levels with the service being suspended from time to time. Research revealed that female travellers were in fear for their own safety and avoiding travel by bus. The EC TAPESTRY project sought to develop methods for promoting positive attitudes and behaviours to sustainable modes using communications campaigns. Research with children revealed underlying reasons why they caused damage to the bus. Using this information TAPESTRY guidelines were used to develop a 'campaign' for reducing vandalism by children. Following implementation confidence in personal safety and bus usage by women travellers increased.
