Attempts to grow sole larvae exclusively with inert diets have not been successful (Fernandez-Diaz et al 2000), although digestive enzymatic activity is already present from mouth opening (Ribeiro et al, 1999). A better understanding of the digestivephysiology of sole larvae is necessary and in the present study the ontogeny of some digestive neuropeptides was studied by immunohistochemistry.
