REPRODUCTIVE STUDY OF THE RAZOR CLAM ENSIS SILIQUA (LINNAEUS, 1758) IN GALICIA (NW SPAIN)

摘要

Spain is the third world producer of razor clams (FAO, 2001). In Galicia (NW Spain) the natural beds of the razor clam Ensis siliqua (Linnaeus, 1758) are in a critical situation because of over-exploitation. The need of a good regulation of the fisheries and the development of hatchery techniques to produce seed requires an in-depth knowledge of the reproductive cycle.
