For the application of high-throughput and parallel polymer research,many (fast) characterization techniques are required for the determination of molecular weight, polydispersity and reaction kinetics and additional characterization techniques for material properties like viscosity, hardness, stiffness and other application specific properties. This is in contrast with high-throughput methods in other fields like pharmaceutical, inorganic and catalysis research, where normally one or two (optical) screening techniques are sufficient. As a result, only during the last decade high-throughput and combinatorial methods are applied in polymer research, because various fast characterization techniques became available.
