1. The installation of SINOx~(~R) systems represents for shipping companies a solution of the Diesel Dilemma and guarantees to reach the emission limits fixed by the environmental authorities. In this way, the ship owners can take advantage of the reduced harbor fees for "clean vessels". 2. The SINOx~(~R) systems are based on the SCR technology which has been developed for power plants 20 years ago and their applications is now spreading out to different fields, particularly in the marine and stationary exhaust gas cleaning. 3. A relevant advantage of the SINOx~(~R) systems is their versatility: they are able to reduce different pollutants as NOx, hydrocarbons, PM and they also have a sound attenuation effect. 4. Consequences to achieve a maximum emission of 2 g NOx / kWh to the environment (for the Fast Ferry Gotland) is an additional weight of 1% (17,5 tons) of the total vessel affecting the speed with about 0,2 knots and an increased operation cost of about 3 USD per MWh with a 3.500 hours running time per year. We are convinced that this is a profitable investment into the future by reducing pollution, giving these vessels a competitive future and a leading position in reducing environmental pollution at sea. With a total SCR capacity of approx. 322 MW in the marine field, CERAMICS brings an effective and concrete contribution for our environment. At the moment, the already installed SINOx~(~R) systems are able to reduce nitrogen oxides by approx. 3,5 t/h.
