For an interface crack, one of the physically acceptable solutions seems to be provided by Delale and Erdogan [1]. They considered that a crack does not exist in the interface between two dissimilar elastic half-planes but in the thin interfacial layer. They assumed that the elastic constants vary continuously across the interfacial layer within the range from the elastic constants of the upper half-plane to those of the lower half-plane. If a plastic material is reinforced by an aluminum fiber, a thin diffusion layer possibly connects the two materials mechanically. Thus, Delale and Erdogan's solutions are meaningful from an engineering viewpoint. The stress singularity at the crack tip is the same of the conventional solution for a homogeneous cracked elastic plate.
