The removal of Cd and Zn using sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) as collector in high ionic strength (IS) was studied by adsorbing colloid flotation (ACF) laboratory scale. The superficial tension and the morphology of the precipitated retained in the foam was also analyzed. The results show that Zn~(2+) /Cd~(2+) removal was extremely poor in the presence of the sulphate ions. Improvement could be obtained by adding Fe~(3+) or Al~(3+) as an activator.It should be observed that the addition of Al~(3+) increase the removal of Cd~(2+) in 13.3 percent and Zn~(2+) in 95.7 percent. On the other hand, the addition of Fe3+ increase the removal of Cd~(2+) in 6.8percent and Zn~(2+) in 45.4 percent. The selectivity regarding the mixture Cd/Zn was pretty acceptable and reached 29.5 percent for Cd~(2+) and 90.9 percent for Zn~(2+).
