We describe our investigation into the consistency of response to music by two or more people. We explain why we view these responses as private and knowable only by the respondent. Our current position is that people communicate using tropic language. This model of the discourse is shown diagrammatically starting with a sample of the type of language studied. The functional model constructed from these diagrams in a schematic programming language is described. With this model we show that communication is possible in principle with private referencing. One conclusion is that such private referencing could be an underlying mechanism for a creative act.
