New easily dispersible pigment preparations in granular form for industrial coatings

It is generally known that pigment powders must be dispersed extensively. We have succeeded in producing a preparation where the pigment powder is incorporated into a resin matrix by a newly developed production process. The final preparations consist of granules that can be mixed in a solvent or a blend of resin and solvent directly without sophisticated dispersion equipment. For mixing it is sufficient to use a dissolver only and even the dissolving time can be reduced significantly. A subsequently pearl mill step is no longer necessary. The granules provide absolutely dust-free handling and can be dosed very easily. The resin that has been used in order to generate the preparations is soluble in all common paint solvents. It is compatible with many coating raw materials. In the presentation the production process and the benefits of these new stir-in pigment preparations will be presented.
