PERMANENT MAGNET DIRECT DRIVE MOTORS: LESSONS LEARNED

In recent years, the authors have presented several papers discussing the use of permanent magnet motors for the direct drive of cooling tower fans. The goal of this paper is to detail how the technology has evolved, communicate lessons learned from field installations and give the reader a practical guide to the installation and use of this type of motor.
