The method involves providing a pole housing (2), and inserting permanent magnets into the pole housing. A seam (7) is formed by cold deformation at the pole housing for fastening the permanent magnets in the pole housing in a radial direction, where the radial direction is defined perpendicular to a rotor axis (4). A flange (3) is formed at a side of the pole housing for fastening an electric motor (1) to a transmission. Another seam is formed in the pole housing for fixing the permanent magnets in an axial direction. An independent claim is also included for an electric motor.
