In order to investigate the dependence of photoelectric properties on the thickness of ZnO nanoparticle films, the ZnO films with different thicknesses were deposited on the conducting glass electrodes by sol-gel dip-coating technique. The ZnO films exhibited the excellent photoelectric responses, and the steady state photocurrent was dependent on the ZnO film thickness. The steady state photocurrent first increased with increasing film thickness as a nearly linear relationship, then decreased as an exponential function. A simple model was established to describe the variation of the steady state photocurrent with the film thickness, and the diffusion length of photogenerated carrier in the ZnO nanoparticle film was estimated by the model.
