A 3D transient numerical model of dephosphorization kinetics coupled with CFD in a top blown converter was built. In the model the dephosphorization happens at the bath metal-slag interface and droplet metal-slag interface is considered. The results show that there is no evident relation between the molten steel inner flow and dephosphorization rate but the droplet generation rate does have an effect because the dephosphorization rate at interface between droplet metal and slag is two orders of magnitude faster than that at bath metal-slag interface. When the lance oxygen pressure rises from 0.7 to 0.8MPa, the dephosphorization rate increases dominantly and the end content of P has a decrease of 19%. However, when the pressure continue rises to 0.9 MPa, the dephosphorization rate increases little.
