This paper describes an approach for the automatic reconstruction of three-dimensional (3D) solid models from two-dimensional (2D) engineering drawings. The main features of the algorithm are to improve the speed of the reconstruction process and to generate a sequence of solutions. The research proposes a novel approach, which is a hybrid of the Boundary Representation (B-rep) and Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) methods for reconstruction of engineering drawings. First, the research utilized the advantages of the B-rep approach to construct a semi-wireframe of solid models. Then the CSG approach has been used for creating and composing the candidate solid models afterwards. A new notion of a "Semi-wireframe" was presented in the reconstruction method. It could reduce processing time and simplify the reconstruction procedure. Several examples from a working implementation are given to demonstrate the efficiency and capability of the proposed algorithm.
