Adopting the optimal theory, the model of smart structures and optimization of the number of actuators via the input energy correlative matrix have been researched in this article. Based on the control effectiveness of the actuators, the article has also given a practical optimal method of actuators locations. Finally, the article aims at a smart cantilever beam and large space smart truss, and the corresponding digital simulation has been done. The numerical results verify that the control method is efficient. The optimization of the size and locations of actuators has no relationship with the initial condition of structure vibration, with the gain of controller either. So the model established in this thesis can be used to the general structure.
