Improvement of soft ground applying vacuum consolidation method by expecting upper clay layer as sealing-up material

This method is a kind of vacuum consolidation method. While it is necessary to cover the foundation surface with a seal sheet in the conventional vacuum consolidation method, this proposed method eliminates the necessity of using one by taking advantage of the sealing performance CG of a clay layer. This paper reports the results of our experiments on indoor and field models. These results have shown that our method is useful.
