Optimized pump performance, increased energy conservation, improved cooling water recirculation, better water quality and minimized water storage components are the major benefits resulting from the system changes presented. These minimal system modifications offer significant financial savings over the operational life of the system. It is the function and responsibility of engineers to continually strive to utilize the total scope of engineering fundamentals and concepts to create systems that provide improved product at reduced operating/installation costs. The concepts presented in this paper reflect how a relatively simple system change in the process by thinking outside the box, can have such wide-reaching effects.
