DESIGN OF A VERY LARGE CONTAINER SHIP FOR RULE DEVELOPMENT WORK

The market scenario of container vessels is proposing a new concept of container carriers, involving large scale economies, synergies between Charterers, Owners, Ports, Terminals and ground Operators. In fact the logic, which drives the transports market, is the direct consequence of the globalisation of the economy. Goods are mainly produced in East Countries and "consumed" in the West ones. Huge ships carrying 12500 TEU or more, seem to become the new frontier toward which Operators are pushed to maximize return on investments. These vessels open new doors on technology problems never faced before and as well new approaches are required by the Classification Societies in terms of Rules and Quality control procedures.
