This paper describes the new services enabling online console gaming. Telenor has tested the new peer-to-peer based solutions for the most sold game consoles, and the results on network impact are remarkable. Also, this kind of broadband service development is in sharp contrast to the usual approach, where network operators/ISPs develop new services, and introduce these services to their customers not knowing whether the new services will be a success or not. Online console gaming has the opposite starting point; a well-established and successful application is being improved by way of network adaptation.
