INTRODUCTION OF PRODUCT LINES IN A HOSPITAL: THE USE OF SIMULATION

To treat patients with cardio vascular problems in the Maastricht University hospital, multi disciplinary teams of physicians are composed. The group of patients with cardio vascular problems was divided into different categories. At the first visit of a patient to the hospital different test will be performed. They will be organized according tot the product line principle. To assess the consequences of the implementation of product lines in a hospital a simulation model was build. It served as a catalyst for discussion about the tasks of the people involved in the product line.
