Tri-generation is a simultaneous production of three types of energy carriers, usually power, heat and cold. This technology can assure a greater efficiency of fuel use, thus a lower level of CO_2 emissions compare to separate production. The paper presents an analysis of several existing tri-generation plants with regard to CO_2 emissions. The analysis focuses on determining the level of CO_2 emissions for each plant and comparing it with the conventional separate production. The method used for calculating CO_2 emissions proved that tri-generation provide a lower level of CO_2 emissions compare to separate production.
