This paper is a theoretical study of a method to obtain the maximum power output from the magneto-hydrodynamic ocean wave energy converter by controlling the applied load impedance. The problem is solved by using the Pontriagin's Maximum Principle. The solution, obtained by finding the stationary point of the Hamiltonian function, turns out to be the linearizing feedback. This makes it possible to solve the resulting two-point boundary-value problem by shifting the boundary conditions.
