The BiScO/sub 3/-Pb(Mg/sub 1/3/Nb/sub 2/3/)O/sub 3/-PbTiO/sub 3/ [BS-PMN-PT] solid solution system has been investigated. The morphotropic phase boundary [MPB] in this ternary system was found to trace-out a nearly straight line between the two binary MPB compositions, BS-0.64PT and PMN-0.33PT. The addition of BS increases the Curie temperature, T/sub c/ and decreases the piezoelectric coefficient, d/sub 33/, of the MPB composition PMN-0.33PT.
