摘要

Coloration of textiles with pigments can be achieved via dyeing or printing [1-3] . Pigments, when used in dyeing, are mostly applied in water soluble forms. However, pigments are more widely employed in printing with assistance of adhesive binders, normally vinyl based polymers [1, 4-8] . Pigment printing has much more flexibility in providing designs but the dependence on binders unavoidably brings in poor hand to the final products. This problem also exists in another technique of using pigments, pigment dyeing, in which ionic interactions are introduced to provide substantivity between pigment particles and fibers [9-10] . Based upon these facts, novel techniques that can directly apply pigments to coloration of textile fibers without using binders are definitely in demand, and one possible way to fulfill this is to take advantage of well developed nanotechnologies.
