The testing of four solar water heaters, based on the standard ISO 9459-2 was undertaken to assess relative performance under the same climatic conditions. The results were used to model energy performance in eight New Zealand centres and to predict hot water delivery in terms of kWh equivalents, and solar fraction performances. This paper outlines the methods used to assess performance and some example test results.
