The development of manufacturing technologies for optical components has greatly extended the content of the optical designer's toolbox during the past decade. Aspheres and freeform lenses are now common goods and the optical component can even be programmable by the use of Spatial Light Modulators. We will look at a few examples vs laser safety classification of this type of surfaces.
