Blends of Polybutylene (PB), Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) and wood flour (WF) composites were developed using melt extrusion technique. Maleic anhydride (MAH) and benzoyl peroxide (BP) were used as a compatibilizer and initiator respectively. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, tensile modulus, and elongation at break were measured to determine the best amount of WF percentage to be added to the composites. Mechanical analysis results indicated that 15wt.% of WF improved the tensile and flexural properties of the blends. The rheological properties of neat PB, LLDPE and PB/LLDPE/WF composites with and without a compatibilizer were also investigated. The addition of maleic anhydride (MAH) was found to improve the compatibility between the WF and the polymers and contributed to the enhanced rheo-mechanical properties of LLDPE.
