Energy production from combustion with low-cost CO2 separation 2. Reduction 2.1 Hydrocarbon fuel (i.e., natural gas) oxidized by metal oxide oxygen carrier (i.e., NiO), yielding CO2 and H2O 3. Oxidation 3.1 Air regenerates reduced oxygen carrier (i.e., Ni), yielding N2 and O2 4. Current reactor designs for CLC are shown in Figure 1
