This paper analyses the behaviour of the adsorption of mixtures of VOC (benzene-toluene) over different AC: chemically activated, physically activated with steam and commercial ones. This study shows that the chemically AC present much better performance than the others, showing much higher adsorption capacities, breakthrough times and separation times. Porosity distribution seems to be a key factor and those carbons with higher volumes of narrow micropores have higher adsorption capacities and breakthrough times.
