Measurement of PM{sub}2.5 Semi-Volatile and Nonvolatile Organic Material with a New Sunset Laboratory Dual Oven Carbon Aerosol Monitor

A new dual oven Sunset Laboratory ambient carbon monitor is described. The monitor contains two sequential oven and analysis systems to allow for determination of nonvolatile carbonaceous material on a quartz filter, followed by determination of semi-volatile carbonaceous material lost from the particles of the quartz filter on a subsequent charcoal impregnated glass fiber filter. Initial validation of the instrument in Lindon Utah indicates reliable data for both species will be obtained with the new sampler.
