The development of high-voltage breakdown, V, for SrTiO{sub}3 (V=40 V/μm) and SrZrO{sub}3 (V=35 V/μm) dielectrics has been previously reported. Although these materials exhibit high breakdown strength, the moderate dielectric constant of these materials limits their charge storage capability. In this work, we first describe the strategies used to achieve the high-voltage breakdown and then address methods of compositional modification to increase the dielectric constant. We report on the relationship between the dielectric properties and the processing and composition of the substrates.
