摘要

The choice behavior in intra city transportation as well as inter-city transportation depends on the level of service between the origin and destination. It has been considered that the feeder service to a railway station is important for improvement of whole railway service. This study focuses on the bus access service and discusses how to improve it. In Tokyo Metropolitan Area, the bus plays an important role for supplying the feeder service. It tries to model the access behavior to a railway station and to analyze the bus access service with the help of the Geographic Information System (hereinafter GIS). The result shows the level of bus service varies with (1) the location of bus stops and bus routes which are directly connected with the population distribution and the land-use pattern, and (2) the role of access mode which is one of compositions in a trip between true origin and destination. It concludes improvement planning of the bus service necessitates the frame from not only transportation planning but also regional planning.
