Quality Metrics for Semantic Web in Bioinformatics

Semantic Web offers a solution to access thousands of data sources scattered over dozens of machines in incompatible data stores in a myriad of formats and overcome many natural barriers persist between bioinformaticians and their data. Users of biological data should be allowed to concentrate on their research and not the job of interfacing disparate systems and data sets. The situation is made more difficult as diverse computational resources are being used to collect, store, and process scientific data and to execute the scientific experiments insilico using the data generated in the wet labs. To trust the data itself and the results derived from it, a system must be devised to ensure authenticity and credibility of web resources. In this paper we have discussed to role of semantic web in facilitating Bioinformatics Research and propose a set of tangible parameters and metrics to evaluate those parameters.
