This paper provides an analysis of the essential factors that encompass diversity and creativity in organisations. Relationships of diversity and creativity with organisation knowledge and learning are explored. Latest academic thinking on diversity and creativity are explored. Field study is conducted to evaluate and match the current practice at workplace against the academic theories. Survey results from a sample of 24 managers representing the two UK based global banks are presented. Our analyses suggest that on average 65% of the respondents agreed that effective management of diversity and creativity leads to organisational competitiveness. However, big gaps were found in between the academic and practitioners view on the basic assumptions of diversity and creativity. SWOT analysis is conducted which reveals that weakness of the top down communication strategy is a major barrier in implementing an organisation wide diversity agenda. Information technology tools are identified to improve communication and collaborations among diverse teams in order to enhance creativity and knowledge sharing.
