A novel approach is presented modelling a fractured rock mass at a reduced physical scale through the use of a naturally occurring micro-fractured chalk. A simple slope stability study is presented to illustrate the feasibility of the model preparation and testing procedure. The results of the centrifuge test indicate that the model behaviour adequately captures the essential features of the prototype rock mass response.
