Practical Concerns for Optical Component Assembly

摘要

This paper briefly discussed the idea of a progression in assembly technology from SMT to MOEMS with emphasis on Optical Component Assembly. Some fundamental issues and process considerations were discussed in the areas of materials, placement, handling, tooling and advanced interconnect technologies. Each aspect of the assembly process requires an increased discipline and understanding to be successful in manufacturing. Finally, those EMS companies involved with this type of technology will realize an increased need for engineering collaboration is compared to SMT technology.
