New approach to distribute application components to client-server system

Application component distribution is a critical problem in the design of client-server systems. In this paper, we describe the classification of application components in a client-server system first. In order to reduce flow traffic through the network and to balance the loading between client and server, we propose a new approach for distributing application components to client and server. The approach is based on data flow diagram (DFD). The idea of boundary pruning is used in this approach. The experimental results on a prototype for the approach are also reported.
