摘要

The use of color instrumentation and colorimetry as an aid towards consistent and unbiased evaluation of color differences has been a desirable practice by the Textile Industry for many years. However the interpretation of the instrumental results did not always meet with the general agreement of the viewers. Due to inadequacies in the instrumentation, insufficient mathematical theories, and poor user understanding of the attribute being measured, many early users were discouraged by the results achieved. Fortunately, with today's more reliable instrumentation, CIELab mathematics, and proper measurement/viewing procedures the user can expect a high degree of consistency and agreement with the data. The most important requirement for good results is to understand the basic principals of color technology. A brief review is presented here, but the reader is encouraged to examine more complete works on the subject.
