The development of wind energy markets in most recent areas is moving from the flat windy sites in northern Europe to other sites with different requirements. This change requires an additional effort in facing problems related to installing heavy equipment in difficult sites and to reduce needs for tools and infrastructure not easily available in the neighbourhood of the projects. ECOTECNIA has being developing wind turbines since 1981 with a specific wind turbine concept used up to now in more than 800 units. Taking the requirements of reducing the transport and installation needs back to the conception of the turbine, together with the specific characteristics of ECOTECNIA layout, has led to the present ECOTECNIA wind turbines in the range between 1 and 2 MW. The generation of wind turbines combines the wide use of highly reliable cast components, lightweight and deep ergonomic design with a modular conception that enables flexible production, container shipping of the nacelle, standard truck transport and use of the same crane as for the 600 kW wind turbine for installation purposes.
