摘要

This paper reports 3-D FEM calculation for the analysis of switching behavior of TN (twisted nematic) cell. A rigorous but time-efficient methodology is presented for estimating the 3-D director distribution and capacitance for 3-D electrode structure constituting the liquid crystal cell. Depending in the 3-D distribution of directors, the optical transmission of the LC cell has been calculated by Berreman's method as well as the threshold voltage and the response time.
